Summary of Position:
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for maintaining El Chorro’s front of house and heart of house areas to include; all dining rooms and meeting areas, interior and exterior of all buildings on property, and all guest areas and support areas of the hotel. The Chief Engineer will manage and oversee all in-house projects, associated contracted projects, and property renovations. This is a GREAT opportunity for someone in a supervisory position to elevate their career in Property Operations, Engineering and Hospitality.
Create and implement routine maintenance schedules and plans for entire property.
Verify completion of all routine maintenance in public spaces, dining rooms, meeting rooms/space, outlets, and back of house areas.
Supervise and hold accountable all maintenance staff.
Maintain inventories to ensure areas of responsibility are maintained effectively.
Maintain documentation relative to room a/c filter changes, annual maintenance, and any other applicable formal hotel maintenance programs.
Oversees “out of order” status to ensure that El Chorro’s revenue is optimized.
Maintain pest control logs to ensure all areas are treated as per contract agreement with outside contractor.
Oversee key logs
Participate in Safety Committee
Oversee Preventative Maintenance Program
Ensure that all work areas in the shop are kept clean and orderly.
Perform maintenance duties as needed along with the maintenance team.
Due to the nature of our business, the individual may be required to do other duties and
special projects as assigned by the General Manager and/or the Regional Managing Director or Senor VP of Construction & Development.
Education: Graduation from High School and from an apprenticeship and/or advanced training program for operating engineers recognized by the industry and trade. Or any other combination of education, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
Experience:Five years experience as a utility engineer with a class “A” hotel company or related industry. Two years experience as a “lead” or supervisor in the same or similar environment.
Certificates or Licenses: HVAC certification recommended
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent knowledge of public construction and building systems, all related permits, licensing, new and existing codes pertaining to building safety.
Excellent knowledge of construction trades including, but not limited to, framing carpentry, finish carpentry, gypsum board installation/finishing, and painting.
Ability to properly and safely use all tools, equipment, materials, chemicals, and products related to areas of responsibility.
Excellent English verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Able to communicate in a positive way, train associates, offer assistance in areas where associates lack knowledge, skills and/or experience. Able to rephrase or translate processes into terms a lay person may easily understand.
Able to climb, stand, stoop, carry tools and equipment and maneuver around property and work areas in order to perform the essential functions of the position.
Ability to train and supervise with strong leadership skills.
Ability to make quick and efficient decisions to benefit the team, guest, and the hotel.
Ability to use associated computer programs
Communicates effectively: Speaks and listens in a clear, thorough, and timely manner, effectively reading and writing, using the English language
Professional Appearance: Exhibits an appearance that is professional and appropriate at all times. (Specific grooming standards are available for review)
This is a full time exempt position. Actual hours may vary depending on business needs.Attendance as scheduled is a critical element in all positions at El Chorro. Must be flexible to work on the weekends.
