Groundskeeper / Landscape

Take ownership of the gorgeous grounds of The Scott Resort & Spa as our Landscape Groundskeeper, while partnering with the engineering team and learning new and valuable skills in a workplace filled with HEART!

Summary of Position:

The Groundkeeper/Landscape role is responsible for maintaining the beauty and upkeep of our landscaped Resort areas to provide a pleasant environment for guests. Additional responsibilities may include general maintenance tasks, for which we are willing to train!

Essential Functions:

•  Assist in maintaining landscaping, handle irrigation, upkeep of grounds, and address potential related problems/repairs

•  Maintain grounds of the property using hand and power tools and equipment

• Tasks include but are not limited to any combination of the following: trimming, raking, sweeping, digging holes/ditches, watering, hauling garbage and trimmings, installation of crushed rock groundcovers, planting of trees flowers and plants, and sprinkler installation

• Monitor property grounds to ensure a pleasant appearance

• Maintain the appearance of fountains and planters

• Install new flowers, bulbs, grass, trees, and shrubs

• Wash, clean, and re-fuel all equipment after use

• Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report defective equipment, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications

• Safely operate equipment including mowers and trimmers and other implements

• Maintain overall property cleanliness

• Clean up and trim trees, shrubs, and flowers

• Maintain shop cleanliness

• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards

• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; protect company assets

• Support team to reach common goals

• Other tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering and/or the General Manager

AS MENTIONED, additional functions may include maintenance related tasks.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: 1 year landscaping experience preferred; maintenance experience is a plus

Certificates or Licenses: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. License checks will be conducted periodically.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Able to fully operate a landscaping cart and abide by all safety rules established The Scott Resort & Spa

Ability to work during adverse weather conditions

Ability to understand and communicate repair challenges

Ability to lift, push and pull heavy items (10-90 lbs.)

Knowledge of equipment and tools used in landscaping including sprinkler systems

General knowledge of trees, shrubs, and flowers

Ability to operate equipment and tools used in landscaping

Ability to walk, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods

Ability to tolerate different weather conditions (90% of time is spent outdoors.)

Excellent in verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to listen, effectively accomplish task, and speak clearly
