This is an exciting opportunity for a high-energy individual that loves selling creative social events by establishing a positive and professional presence and rapport with clients and customers while exceeding revenue goals and maximize profitability.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for selling social events with focus on weddings, rehearsal dinners, anniversaries, engagement celebrations, birthday celebrations, retirements dinners, holiday parties, and more. 
  • Meet or exceed quarterly, year-end and future booking sales goals.
  • Respond to sales inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Follow-up and report on all outstanding sales inquiries. 
  • Conduct site inspection tours and outside sales calls.
  • Systematically build and maintain positive relationships with planners and clients.
  • Design and sell events that meet the client’s needs all the while maintaining profitability (revenue generation, maintaining profit margins and food/beverage costs).
  • Continuously keeps updated knowledge of the competitive set offerings.
  • Utilize cross-selling techniques to ensure business is booked at Inn at Laguna Beach & Laguna Beach House.
  • Create proposals, event estimates, and contracts.
  • Works closely with the Events Manager to coordinate all details of catered events to ensure appropriate and professional services are delivered per the terms of each contract including working with outside rental vendors, the catering and food and beverage team, and other internal departments.
  • Assist the Event Manager, banquet team, and catering team on day/evening of event to oversee and insure proper service delivery.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to set and stay focused on multiple priorities.
  • Utilizes Sales Force/ Dephi fdc to keep accurate record of leads & accounts.
  • Ensures The Inn at Laguna Beach quality standards are maintained and profitability is maximized.
  • Follow-up with client after function to ensure customer satisfaction, to address any challenges, and to ask for rebooking.
  • Collaborates with marketing team for continuous social media presence marketing the Inn at Laguna Beach events. 
  • Follow-up with various departments to ensure any necessary feedback is communicated.

Qualifications:

Education: Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. College Degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of hotel/resort or event experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Considerable knowledge of food & beverage products, proper preparation and presentation of foods and beverage items.

Knowledge of related event coordination areas: Audio-Visual, décor, entertainment, tenting, exhibits, power, etc.

Understanding of event logistics (set up and design).

Ability to read, write and speak English to comprehend and communicate job functions.

Ability to create special themes and menus.

Ability to work nights/ weekends/ holidays and long hours.

Ability to lift 30 pounds

Ability to work long hours while standing, walking, sitting

Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.

Working Conditions:

  • Attendance as scheduled is a critical element in all positions at the Inn at Laguna Beach. Availability for weekends and holidays is essential.
