Maintenance Engineer
Seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual who is interested in a career in maintenance / engineering! Experience required and equally important is someone who is professional in appearance, service oriented with a strong work ethic who enjoys repairing things and supporting a team!
Summary of Position:
This Maintenance Engineer position PM SHIFT will be responsible for everything from basic tasks and to more skill oriented maintenance duties as it pertains to responding to guest needs and department requests; electrical, plumbing, kitchen equipment, and working with tools to fix, repair or maintain furniture, paint and other basic assignments to help maintain the entire facility and support the team. This involves performing a variety of tasks and trades.
Essential Functions:
Respond to guest challenges and requests throughout the property, making necessary repairs and/or accommodating the guest’s needs.
Work with other departments to assist in performing repairs as requested.
Maintain all inspection and log sheets to guarantee preventative maintenance was completed.
Learn to visually inspect and diagnose problems, making repairs as necessary or as instructed by supervisors.
Maintain inventory of supplies to perform job functions.
Report major repair items or items that cannot be repaired to management within Engineering.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor or the Director of Engineering.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Some Experience with maintenance trades required; hospitality or residential experience preferred but not required.
Certificates or Licenses: clean motor vehicle record
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Highly interested in learning all maintenance trades including electrical, plumbing, water chemistry, and natural gas properties as well as the related use of hand and power tools.
Minimum of 3 years working experience; preferably in customer service, trades or engineering/property operations
Ability to learn and use of related tools including hand and power tools
Mathematical skills necessary to perform job duties
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and push and pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, carry objects up to 50 pounds
Ability to walk around the property for the majority of the work period
Ability to climb ladders and work at height up to 30 feet for extended periods
Ability to memorize and perform Resort Standards, AAA Diamond standards, and Mystery shopper standards

Communicates effectively: Speaks and listens in a clear, thorough, and timely manner, effectively reading and writing, using the English language
Professional Appearance: Exhibits an appearance appropriate for a four diamond resort (Specific grooming standards are available for review)
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time non-exempt position.
This position requires extensive time outdoors and around the entire property.
Actual hours may vary dependent on business need.
Attendance as scheduled is a critical element in all positions at Inn at Laguna Beach.
